Though I actually never had an issue with the uncanny valley CDB-Man: Well yeah that's what happens if just draw over a movie without doing anything else. Hmm, I always thought the uncanny valley applied only to to 3D-humans - the Final Fantasy Movie might even not be a good example, but I can'T think of anything else maybe. I'll spare you the hours you'd spend reading TV Tropes if I were to throw the article link around, and instead I'll provide this ever so simple pic: The uncanny valley is why things like zombies tend to be scary, or why so many people are afraid of clowns. Put simply, when something seems like the real thing, almost real enough to fool you into thinking it's the real thing, but you can still notice it's not the real thing because something is off, your brain alarms go off and, rather than acceptance, it instead evokes all sorts of negative reactions. This is a bit off-topic, but I might as well add that the issue with rotoscoping isn't that it looks old (in fact it doesn't you may be thinking of the washed-out colors instead), but that it hits something called the uncanny valley.
