IRQ 9 Standard Universal PCI to USB Host Controller OK If you can tell me where to go from here, unlike the damned Compaq techs online, I would be delighted. If there's anything else I can provide, I will be happy to do so. I can now update Windows via Windows Update without it shutting off, but I have not yet attempted a virus scan. After the battery replacement, the computer seems to be running a bit faster, but I still get the error. First I reset BIOS to default values, then diagnostics, then tests, then upgrades, then battery. They instructed me to: reset the BIOS to its default values via the Setup menu, run a couple diagnostic programs, run a hard disk and memory test, remove and replace the RTC battery, upgraded the Intel chipset drivers, and upgraded the Intel Graphics chipset drivers. I contacted Compaq via their online chat support. I say used to because after i took out the RCT battery and replaced it, it quit showing up.

When I enter Windows, I used to get a message asking for the driver for the PCI Memory Controller.

The computer also ran hellaciously slow and would shut off at seeming random times, but it did shut off whenever I would try to scan for viruses using Kaspersky, upgrade WIndows via Windows Update, or run diagnostics programs. I am getting the following error message on startup: I am new here and getting increasingly desperate.
